Saya

A profound song, a prayer, in remembrance of his parents, both musicians.

Saya means ‘death’.
There is nothing good in death. It leaves children orphans, makes mothers widows.
An invocation to God, and to his parents, using images that recall the djeli tradition.
Djali wanted us to include this song on the CD despite the pain involved. Not everyone has the courage to sing about these things, he told us when he explained his choice.
